12 MAY Community Service


As part of our post community service, we will be going


to metta student care at bedok.


Time : 8.30 am to 12.30 pm
Where:


blk 508 Bedok North Ave 3 #01-369.
take bus 225(white plate) from bedok interchange and alight at
the second bus stop in front of block 509.
Activities:
Paint the rooms and teach primary school students art lessons
as per what we did in Laos

YEP Report Due 31 May 07


The report should be 5-8 pages in total, written in Arial Font 12 single spacing. The contents of the report are as such:


1. Learning Objectives or Goals
2. Brief Summary of execution of expedition (Maximum 200 words)
3. Reflections
4. Conclusion

You could structure the report in the following format :

1. Pre-Expedition (why you joined the project, training, teambuilding, book drive, preparation for cultural items, etc)
2. Expedition (work completed, workshops, visits to home and technical institutes, Laos people and culture, lessons learnt)
3. Post-Expedition (your thoughts when you are back home, final community project to be completed in Singapore, plan to contribute to S’pore/Laos/ other nations, etc)

You may include photos in your report but will not be counted in the 5-8 pages in length.

Your report should try as far as possible to answer the following questions:

- What was the community need that your service helped meet?
- How did your service meet that goal?
- What skills did you develop to meet that goal?
- What were the best things you learned/did during your service?
- What were the challenges you had to meet during your service? How did you meet them?
- What did you learn about your value to your community?
- Did the service you performed help or change anything in you?
- Will you continue to serve the community? How?
- What changes would you recommend the future YEP team make?

Laos Community Library Trip (31 March – 14 April 2007)

You are cordially invited to attend a parents’ briefing on the Laos Community Library Trip that you child/charge will be participating in. At the briefing, we will share with you the objectives of the project, the trip programme, the flight, accommodations and meal arrangements, as well as Laos culture and lifestyle so that you will have a better understanding of your child’s participation. A question and answer session will be held after the briefing.

Things to being for Laos Trip (31 March – 14 April 2007)

What To Bring:

Toiletries (eg. toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo etc.)
6 – 7 sets of clothes & necessary personal clothing (casual and suitable for physical labour).
To wear CE polo and jeans while on official visits.
Sun block
Writing materials/journal plus a pen (to be kept on you at all times)
Sleeping Bag (optional)
Personal medication (if any) (eg panadol, cough, flu etc) -
we will not provide such items in the first aid kit.
Light jacket/Windbreaker
Torchlight
Towel (optional), hand towel
Water bottle
Money - bring enough - change to Thai Baht (Laos don’t accept S$). Recommended: $50-$100 to Thai Baht.
Family pictures/postcards on Singapore or other items to show/share with host
Handphone and charger, camera (optional). You are advised only to call home when you reach Laos. Your parents will be given a CE contact no. to reach you.

All passengers are required to undergo security screening and have their hand-carry baggage x-rayed.

Eg: pocket knives, nail files, box cutters, razors, scissors, cockscrews, any sharp / pointed objects, etc. No liquids allowed in hand luggage (eg. Shampoo, drinks, bottled water).
If a passenger needs to carry such items for his or her trip, the items should be packed into the checked baggage.
